to answer:
1) the old pictures did not scare me off, though they could have. that's some scary stuff.
2) yes, chicken is divine. thanks for pointing that out, anon.
3) my daughter thinks i'm funny, though she is only 20 months old. great age for trying out new material.
4) i'm not quitting the blog...again.
truthfully, i have been working 60+ hours a week, and trying to be a good husband, father, neighbor, friend, etc. Proximity still wins out, and something had to go. I'll likely be back on Facebook around 1/09, once my work eases up a bit, and I look forward to seeing what groups are still active, what pictures have been posted, who has popped up or disappeared.
In the meantime, I have a handful of topics to discuss (more magazine stuff, my NYC trip, more S_L_A_P_P_E_D talk, etc.) and things to virtually work out here on the blog. It is nice to only have one thing on that pesky back-of-my-mind to-do list.
shanti,

well add this to your planned topics- the 'facebook' gang is cooking up a hillwood youth reunion. THAT will give you something to write about.
ps - i'm one of the party planners! :p
you better invite me to the feast!
maybe instead of chicken it should be overachiever!!
let's see...chicken reference, two exclamation marks...I am guessing Amy (the LN Amy, not the many other Amy's I know)? Or could Amy have rubbed off on Glo? hmmm...this is a mystery.
and chicken is not too far off. See, it was the Pokey puppy that I created for some unknown reason that pushed me over the edge. I could handle swinging through Facebook every day or two, but if I didn't login and feed/water my dog every day, it ended up on the "hungry puppies" list. Now, I am a huge dog-lover, but I just have too much going on in my life to worry about my virtual pet going hungry. I am hoping that deactivating my account will lead to an adoption or a merciless ending to little Shallot.
Also, I mentioned more Slapped talk. If you haven't checked it out, B. W. Fullford left an interesting comment on my post. Hopefully, I will have time to respond in a few days, but feel free to discuss on your own. I have a deadline to meet...hence, working at night when I should be relaxing.
Hey Mel... don't forget to invite the rest of us non-facebook people!!!
maybe it shoud actually read "people-pleaser" although I'm not sure that fits well either. Did you know that on facebook you can be active and not actually do anything or talk to people and you can even cancel applications like "Shallot." And when you do that you can dream that Shallot has been adopted by a loving member who has more time to feed it. Didn't know you were such a dog-lover???
My theory...just a theory...is that you appear to not be worried about what others think of you while actually you are overburdened with concern of how others see you and your responsibility to that view that they have of you.
as fun as it is to converse with an anonymous person, do you want to let me know who i am speaking with? I own up to being chicken. And I definitely own up to caring what others think about me. I think (and hope) that overburdened might be too strong of a word, but I definitely care. It's generally good motivation to keep me close to that straight and narrow. And I do dream all the time that little Shallot has found a good home. Is it strange to worry about what a virtual dog thinks of you? :o)
but that would ruin it. besides i like this anonymous banter. That way I can't be judged on my comments just because I am who I am. Is that ok?
I do believe that it is strange to worry about what a virtual dog thinks of you but then I am more of a cat person.
BTW how do you make that smiley face with the big nose?:O) is that right?
B.W. Fullford has WAY too much time on his or her hands. I think that guy needs a hobby. We should all just go blow bubbles. That always helps me understand and process things.
