"What would I give to be pure in heart
To be pure in flesh and bone
What would I give to be pure in heart
I’d give everything I own
I’d rid my whole house of its demons of lust
And open the windows of trust
And out of those windows all fear will have flown
I’d give everything I own
What would I give for the words of God
To come tumbling from the throne
What would I give for the words of God
I’d give everything I own
I’d open my head and they’d roll right in
When I opened my mouth they’d roll out again
And uproot the weeds of the deeds I have sown
I’d give everything I own
Now what would I give for my children’s strength
On the day that they stand alone
I mean what would I give for their strength to stand firm
I’d give everything I own
I’ve wasted my life in accomplishing things
Ignoring the giver of wings
So Lord teach them to fly to the foot of your throne
I’ll give everything I own
All I’ve accomplished, the titles I hold
My passions, position, possessions and gold
To God they must look like a thimble of foam
And it’s everything I own
Dirty rags are all I own
So I stand before God with my truckload of hay
He just laughs, but says there is still a way
Because “Father, Forgive” are the words Jesus moaned
When He gave everything that He owned
When He gave everything He owned
What would I give to be pure in heart
For the known to be made unknown
What would I give to be born again?"--David Peightal
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the song anywhere on the web. Trust me, it's beautiful. Take the lyrics however you may.

Hey man.... Like the blog... I have it bookmarked and will keep checking in on it.
Want "Everything I Own"?
I love the song and each of the Pegtop albums.
I'd encourage you to buy each of them, but in the meantime I'd be happy to make the song available.

Thanks, scooter! I am a huge Pegtop fan and am sad that I was only able to see them live once (Everyone's Music Fest). I am going to add this song to my playlist and am thankful that you posted it. I own almost all of their albums, but this song stands as my favorite.
Hi, This song has been playing for awhile on the Christian radio station in Adelaide, Australia. The lyrics are the same, but it's by Jason Gray. not sure if its the same version (never heard the pegtop version) but its a wonderful song! You can download the Jason Gray version at iTunes. Check out www.jasongraymusic.com for more info.

hi i'm david peightal's daughter.. the guy who wrote that song. and the one that jason gray sings is the same song just in case you wanted to no.
hi, david peightal's daughter (sorry, don't know your name). This is one of the most honest, most important, and most hard-hitting (personally) songs that I have run across in my years of song-/lyric-searching. hope your dad is well and has found his internal resting place.
This is david peightal's daughter's father.
thankyou for the rich comments.
There used to be a myspace pegtop site where you could link to download a couple pegtop albums free. Everything I own could be played there at that site along with a few other songs. I dont know if it is still there, but is worth checking on. Thanks again Matt, it means a lot.
David! I know this is a long shot but I am wondering if you would ever perform again. My friends, Dan and Sandy Adler have a small music theater in Anoka MN and they asked us today who we would like to see come to the theater. My first thought was pegtop! I know the band isn't together but just maybe you could do a concert. I know there are those who would love to hear you again and spend an evening before the Throne on the notes of your songs.
Hoping!!
Rebecca
